Starurile internaţionale ale operei Angela Gheorghiu şi Placido Domingo vor cânta, pe 29 iulie, la O2 Arena din Londra, informează cotidianul The Guardian.

Placido Domingo şi-a câştigat locul în cărţile de istorie ale operei "printr-o carieră extraordinară de aproximativ 50 de ani. Atât individual, cât şi ca membru al celor Trei Tenori, el a devenit unul dintre cei mai cunoscuţi şi apreciaţi tenori. Câştigător al mai multor premii Grammy, Placido continuă să apară pe scene din întreaga lume, recent, în calitate de dirijor", scrie The Guardian.

Placido Domingo, în vârstă de 70 de ani, este un tenor spaniol renumit pe plan mondial pentru forţa şi versatilitatea vocii sale puternice, capabilă să stăpânească toate notele şi tonurile registrului dramatic. De la debutul său, în rolul Alfredo din opera "La Traviata" de Verdi, în anul 1959, Placido Domingo a interpretat peste 130 de roluri, devenind astfel tenorul care a interpretat cele mai multe partituri din lume.
Tenorul spaniol Placido Domingo părăseşte în iunie postul de director al Operei Naţionale din Washington, cu care a colaborat din 1996. Placido Domingo este, totodată, directorul Operei din Los Angeles, cu care are contract până în 2013.
